Library is the mind of the society, a house of wisdom which serves as a vehicle of social progress by collecting, organizing, preserving, socializing and serving all expressed thoughts embodied as manuscripts, books, periodicals and in the form of different types of documents. As a Government cum Public Library, DIPR Information Centre plays a vital role in strengthening democracy which is situated in Srimanta Sankar Dev Kalakshetra, Guwahati with a good collection of books and other reading materials for reading, research, recreation and information.

• Almost 11,000 books of different subject areas which are arranged subject wise such as Literature, Mass communication and Journalism, History, Economics, Education, Religion and Philosophy, Sankar Dev and Satriya Sanskriti, Sociology, Political Science, Biography, Reference Books etc.
• Rare collection of magazines, press releases are available.
• The daily newspapers from 1965 to till date which are blinded and preserved in proper way.
• 8 daily newspapers including Assamese and English to serve the community.
